As some of you are already aware, Clara Nigh, our receptionist at Eaton location, was recently diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. On April 25th she took a leave of absence to have surgery and receive treatment. We are happy to announce that on June 5th she resumed her duties at the reception desk, much to the delight of our clients! Clara is thrilled to be back at work and aside from her lovely new scar it’s like she never left! She still has a fight ahead of her but hopefully the worst is over.

We’d like to thank Helen Trent for helping out at Eaton location in Clara’s absence by taking over the reception desk. You were very much appreciated by the clients and Interactive staff!

About Thyroid Cancer
Overview:

The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. Although the thyroid gland is small, it produces hormones that regulate every aspect of your metabolism, from your heart rate to how quickly you burn calories.

Sometimes you may develop one or more solid or fluid-filled lumps called nodules in your thyroid. Most of these are non cancerous (benign) and cause no symptoms. But a small percentage are cancerous (malignant), and serious complications are possible.

The prognosis is often excellent for a cancerous thyroid nodule. The most common types of thyroid cancer can often be completely removed with surgery. But the important first step is to know the symptoms and see your doctor (source http://www.mayoclinic.com/).
