Bay Street's New Look!

4th Floor Reception

CSR Area

A full renovation was completed on the two floors of our Bay Street location. The reception and the resource centre have both received a contemporary maple finish accented with stylish chrome studs, which further blends into the wall backing the reception area as well as the closet to maintain a continuous flow. Two sleek Italian grey leather couches dressed up the lobby and complemented the matching tone of the marble coffee table.

All offices and hallways received a fresh coat of paint with a relaxing cream tone; whereas all boardrooms and kitchens are given an elegant tone of gold; and the turns of each hallway are accented by a rich contrast of burgundy. The entire floor was re-carpeted with a high quality impressive black carpet interwoven with patterns of taupe and gold to harmonize the hallway and door colours. The marble floor and the oakwood floor at the lobbies on each floor were both refinished to conclude the “new look”.

The two kitchens are updated and we have included seating in them to further enhance the comfort of the kitchen facilities to our clients.

A heartfelt “thank you” goes to all clients for their cooperation and patience during the whole renovation period to allow the speedy progress of this project. Our gratefulness also goes to all staff members for their wonderful support on the renovation in offering their assistance to take care of every single aspect of the added workload throughout the entire renovation period.

Now we are all enjoying the rewarding result of this renovation project.

First Canadian Place Fall Networking Event

Vendors and participants came bright and early on November 23, 2005 ready to set up at Interactive Offices Worldwide first Networking event.

High above on the 37th floor at one of the most prestigious business towers in Toronto - the First Canadian Place - exhibitors representing various business, professional, social groups and organizations convened on the floor to exchange ideas and business trades.

Participants came from all our different centres across the GTA with other vendors and suppliers participating in this exciting event. With speakers and seminars lined up throughout the day, our doors opened at 9:00AM to the public with Interactive’s team welcoming each attendee with smiles and goodie bags sponsored by the many businesses supporting our event.

Always on the look-out for supporting good causes, a silent auction with items donated by HotToronto.com and a fundraising program for Toronto’s Sick Kids Foundation were included in the agenda. 10% of the funds raised from the sale of the booths rented out for the Networking event was donated to the Sick Kids Foundation.

This event generated such synergy that both attendees and exhibitors expressed vast interests in being part of Interactive’s future Networking Events. It was a great pleasure for Interactive to see all the centres’ clients come together and network with each other.

On its 12th year in business and striving to continue to promote business INTERACTION between businesses and industries, Interactive Offices Worldwide, now with over 35 Executive Suites across North America and soon to expand to Europe, Asia and South America is thrill and thankful to all whom participated as exhibitors, speakers, sponsors, attendees and staff for their wonderful support.

The event was without doubt a success and we look forward to seeing you all again in our next networking event.

12 RULES OF LIFE

Sometimes we need to remember WHAT the Rules of life really are.

1. Never give yourself a haircut after three alcoholic beverages of any kind.
2. You need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
3. The five most essential words for a healthy, vital relationship are: I apologize" and "You are right."
4. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
5. When you make a mistake, make amends immediately. It's easier to eat crow while it's still warm.
6. The only really good advice that your mother ever gave you was: "Go! You might meet somebody!"
7. If he/she says that you are too good for him/her - believe them.
8. Learn to pick your battles. Ask yourself, 'Will this matter one year from now? How about one month? One week? One day?'
9. Never pass up an opportunity to pee.
10. If you woke up breathing, congratulations! You have another chance!
11. Living well really is the best revenge. Being miserable because of a bad or former relationship just might mean that the other person was right about you.
12. And finally; be really nice to your friends and family. You never know when you are going to need them to empty your bedpan.
be really nice to your friends and family. You never know when you are going to need them to empty your bedpan.

7 Ways to Work Faster on Slow Connections

There is nothing like trying to work when your Internet connection is slow. It's tougher to send e-mail, more difficult to send files to co-workers, and it's frustrating wasting time while you wait for Web pages to appear. And even with the proliferation of broadband Internet connections, there are still times you may be working on a slow connection. You might be traveling, working out of your office, still using dial-up, or your broadband connection may be acting up. But there are things you can do.

This article will show you how to increase your productivity when your connection is slow. Many of these steps are also good tips for how to increase the speed of browsing and sending and receiving e-mail.

1. Send Multiple Files Faster by Compressing Them
If you're sending multiple files-for example several files related to a project-you can reduce their combined size by using a compression utility. Compressing your files can dramatically reduce the time needed to send files online, and won't take up as much space in your (or the recipient's) e-mail Inbox. WinZip is one of the more common compression tools

2. Speed Browsing by Turning Off Graphics in Internet Explorer
Graphics are important to Web pages, but they also take time to download if you're online. You can turn them off to speed your Internet browsing.
To disable graphics in Internet Explorer:
1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Settings box, scroll down to the Multimedia section. Clear the following boxes.
. a. Play animations in Web pages
. b. Play sounds in Web page
. c. Play videos in Web pages
. d. Show pictures
4. Click Apply.

3. Send E-Mail Using Distribution Lists
If you're sending an e-mail to multiple people, create a distribution list instead of listing each recipient separately. Messages are sent faster and more efficiently when you're using a distribution list. Your company may have established procedures for creating mailing lists. If not, learn how to create a distribution list in Outlook.

4. Work Offline Using Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook
Even if you lose your network connection, you can continue to working in Outlook if you're using Cached Exchange Mode. With Cached Exchange Mode, a copy of your mailbox is stored on your computer. This copy provides quick access to your data and is frequently updated with the mail server. If you work offline, whether by choice or due to a connection problem, your data is still available to you instantly wherever you are. Cached Exchange Mode does require you to work with a Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail account.

5. Reduce E-Mail Size With Simple E-Mail Signatures
E-mail signatures leave a professional stamp on your messages, but elaborate signatures that include multiple images take up a lot of unnecessary storage space in each e-mail. Ultimately, they can slow down the time needed to send each message. Instead create distinctive text signatures combining fonts, type sizes, and colors to make your e-mail signature smaller and quicker to transmit and receive.

6. Browse Offline By Saving Web Pages on Your Computer
If you use reference a Web page often, save it locally to your computer. If you lose your connection or are working on a slow connection, you'll still be able to read and find the information you need.

To save a Web page on your computer:

1. In Internet Explorer, go to the Web page you want to save.
2. On the File menu, click Save As.
3. In the Save As type drop-down menu, select Web page, complete.
4. Click Save.

7. Open Web Pages Faster by Increasing Your Cache
If you increase the size of the Temporary Internet files cache in Internet Explorer, your computer won't have to work so hard when you revisit Web pages. Many of the images will already be downloaded on your computer, decreasing the amount of time it takes to open a page.

To increase the Temporary Internet Files cache:
1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click Settings.
3. In the Settings dialog box, under Check for newer versions of stored pages:, click the Automatically radio button.
4. In the Temporary Internet files folder section, set the Amount of disk space to use: to at least 250 megabytes (MB). 5. Click OK.
